APPLICATION OF COLREG-72 IN DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR NAVIGATORS
Abstract
The article deals with application of COLREG-72 when creating a decision support system for navigators. The peculiarities of the COLREG-72 structure and the rules that are used in decision-support systems for coordinating vessel differentiation processes are defined. Three types of binary coordination of vessel
interaction are identified: coordination in normal interaction, coordination in extreme interaction, and coordination in extreme interaction. The model of the formal representation of rules in the decision support system of the ship operator and its algorithm are proposed. A set of criteria for assessing the level of
danger of ships in the convergence situation has been identified. It is shown that taking into account the requirements of COLREG-72 in decision-support systems, the navigator, in combination with the criteria for assessing the collision hazard, is able to determine the most safe and efficient trajectories of vessel
traffic. The offered approaches to creation of systems of support of decision-making the navigator allow to reduce risks of collision of vessels and increase economic efficiency of navigation.
