Abstract

The article analyzes the operating conditions of the IMO ACG 045N7NVBP screw pump coupling of the booster module of the fuel system of the container vessel power plant. He showed that the design of the clutch installed in the pump with an elastic polyurethane star does not correspond to the conditions of its operation due to the shortcomings of the material of the elastic element and the design of the coupling itself. Based on the results of the analysis, a simple and technology-designed coupling with a cable element was developed. This enables it to work in conditions of high temperatures and corrosive environments, provides the opportunity to perform its manufacturing and repair in ship’s conditions. When the rope breaks, the clutch opens the kinematic chain and thereby signals a malfunction and the need to restore it. The design of the coupling ensures the ease of replacement of the rope and its airflow by counter-air when the clutch rotates. The basic power parameters of the coupling are substantiated, expressions are obtained for calculating the cable tension and load of the clutch parts.
