DETERMINATION OF THE WHEREABOUTS OF A SHIP WITH THE BROKEN ENGINE DURING THE WIND DRIFT IN THE BLACK SEA

Abstract

The article shows that the position of the vessel during the drift with a broken engine depends on the efficiency of the search and rescue operation. The author described the drift of the vessel itself or the drift of the vessel due to the action of the wind. The task of the author is to determine the starting point of the drifting vessel (for example in the Ukrainian waters in the Black Sea) from the original filing distress «mayday» to the position of the ship in a certain period of time and a message about a ship to all the emergency services. To calculate the ship’s position the author uses a mathematical model. It is known that the ratio of the drift velocity vessel under the influence of the wind depends on the sailing boat and the ratio of surface and underwater lateral surface for most of the courts is 0.12 – 0.15. This ratio is used to find the speed of the wind drift vessel. The Designed point of the ship in a specified period of time is determined by using the Monte Carlo method. Taking into account the analysis and the reliability of 0,95 it is found that
the vessel is in the wind drift during 10 hours will be calculated at a certain distance.
